PARTICIPATION, LIABILITY AND CLUB POLICIES AGREEMENT 

MIAMI FENCING CLUB

By enrolling an athlete in Miami Fencing Club, the parent, legal guardian, or responsible party acknowledges that they have read, understood, and agreed to the following terms and conditions:

1. MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS

The athlete must maintain an active and valid membership with USA Fencing at all times. Additionally, the athlete must complete an annual medical evaluation certifying that they are physically fit to participate in sports activities.

2. PARTICIPATION AND ATTENDANCE

The athlete must arrive and be picked up on time for all training sessions. Parents or guardians are responsible for complying with all drop-off and pick-up schedules.

3. PICK-UP AUTHORIZATION

Only the registered parent or legal guardian is authorized to drop off and pick up the minor. If a third party is authorized, a signed written authorization must be provided in advance.

4. CONDUCT AND VALUES

Respect, discipline, safety, and sportsmanship are required at all times among athletes, coaches, parents, and club staff, both within the training facility, at competitions, and on social media platforms.

5. FACILITY USE AND SAFETY

The training area is strictly reserved for athletic practice. Eating, playing, or disrupting training sessions is not permitted.

Athletes must handle all fencing equipment safely at all times and must not point weapons at others outside of active training.

Parents must remain in designated viewing areas and must not interfere with training activities.

6. LIABILITY

Miami Fencing Club shall not be held responsible for any personal items that are lost, forgotten, or damaged within the premises.

7. IMAGE AND MEDIA RELEASE

The parent or legal guardian grants permission for Miami Fencing Club to use photographs and videos of the athlete taken during training sessions, competitions, and club activities for educational, promotional, marketing, and advertising purposes, without compensation, unless a written restriction is submitted and approved by the club.

8. REGISTRATION AND PAYMENTS

The annual registration fee is mandatory, non-refundable, and non-transferable, and is required to activate participation in the club.

If an athlete interrupts, cancels, or withdraws from training for any reason and later wishes to return, a new registration fee will be required.

9. CANCELLATIONS

To cancel a training program, written notice must be provided at least 30 days in advance.

All payments made are non-refundable.

Missed classes due to absence, forgetfulness, or lack of prior notice will not be refunded or automatically rescheduled.

10. TOURNAMENT PARTICIPATION

The club encourages participation in competitions as part of the athlete’s development.

FINAL ACKNOWLEDGMENT

The athlete, their family, and associated parties acknowledge that the practice of fencing involves inherent physical risks and voluntarily accept participation under these terms and conditions.

 The parent or legal guardian declares that, by enrolling the athlete in Miami Fencing Club, they have read, understood, and fully accepted all terms, conditions, and club policies.

The parent or legal guardian acknowledges and understands that participation in fencing involves inherent risks, including, but not limited to, physical injury, contact with equipment, and other unforeseen risks associated with athletic activity.

By enrolling the athlete, the parent or legal guardian voluntarily assumes all risks related to participation in training sessions, competitions, and club activities.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the parent or legal guardian agrees to release, waive, and hold harmless Miami Fencing Club, its owners, directors, coaches, staff, and affiliates from any and all claims, liabilities, damages, or causes of action arising out of or related to the athlete’s participation in club activities.

This waiver includes, but is not limited to, claims for personal injury, property damage, or any other loss, whether caused by negligence or otherwise, except in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct.
